Kate and Ken Withington were the big winners in this year’s allotment competitions, taking first place in four categories and second place in a further two.

The winners were announced at today’s barbecue.which was attended by a good number of plotholders, their friends and families.

It’s that time of year again!

Let’s hope the sun is shining on Sunday, July 21 when we hold our annual barbecue and competitions.

All plot holders and their families and friends will be welcome.

There will also be a raffle during the afternoon. If you want to donate a prize please bring it along on the day.

As usual, the competition categories are: best full plot; best half plot; largest root of potato; longest stick of rhubarb; Sunday lunch (two each of five different vegetables on a plate including potato); largest strawberry; bunch of flowers; funniest/largest vegetable.

The entry fee is £2.

The entry form can be found here. Please give your completed form and entry fee to any committee member. Some printed forms will be available by the shed in the main car park for members who do not have their own printer.

Judging of the best plots and half plots will take place on the evening of Wednesday, July 10. Other categories will be judged on the day of the barbecue.

The closing date for the plot categories is Friday, July 5

We’re firing up the barbecue again!

Summer may be drawing to a close but it’s never too late for a barbecue!

Join us by the large container on Sunday, September 9 from 1pm. All plotholders are welcome with their family and friends.

We will be holding a raffle so prize donations would be greatly appreciated. Bring them along on the day or give them to committee members in advance.

Any profits will go into association funds.

Winners in the sunshine

Plotholders and their families and friends turned out for our annual barbecue today and enjoyed an afternoon in the sun.

Resident chefs Tony Fursland, Pat Stockhall and Pearl Barton made sure there was plenty of food to go round.

A highlight of the afternoon was the announcement of the winners in our annual  competitions, all of whom are listed below the photos.
