Plot Numbers

You may have noticed new number marker posts appearing on some plots at the site.

They are to help committee members know which plot is which when they carry out monthly inspections.

They will eventually be installed on all the plots.

Help Tony Celebrate

IMG_0027

Tony, our chairman, has a birthday next month and he wants us to help him celebrate it.

He is hosting a barbecue on the grassy area by the  large container on Sunday, May 12 from 1pm.

The barbecue, tea and coffee will be free of charge.

All plotholders and their families are welcome.

Plant Sale

Denis Vickers, who judges our annual allotment competitions, is holding a plant sale to raise money for the Air Ambulance.

A wide range of flower and vegetable plants will be on sale at the event at The Larch, Beacon Lane, Woodnesborough, CT13 0PB, on Saturday, April 27 from 10am to noon.

All Change

The clocks change on Sunday which means that the earliest time you can start a bonfire at the allotments will be 4pm.

But, in any case, Sunday will be your last chance for the time being to have a bonfire on site because the allotment rules say they are not allowed at all from April 1 to September 30.

As another sign of the changing seasons, the water will be switched on on Monday.

The first plot inspections of 2019 will also take place next week.

Open evening

Cropwatch Horticulture of Dover is holding an open evening on Monday, April 1, from 6pm to 8pm, where you will be able to buy tools, equipment, fertiliser, pots, seed trays and a range of growing products.

The event takes place at Martin’s Nursery, Poison Cross, Statenborough Lane, Eastry, CT13 0DL.

Spuds if you like

DSC_0001Everyone who ordered seed potatoes from Terry has now collected them but there are still a few bags available.

The varieties on offer are: Duke of York first earlies; Kestrel second earlies; King Edward maincrop.

They are £2.20 per 2kg bag.

If you want to buy some, please speak to Terry (plot 18) or Ron (plot 22b).
