What a wonderful summer we are having. Most plots look really good. The Committee have noticed, however, that although some plots still have potatoes that have blight, the tops haven’t been cut. It should be remembered that anything that has blight should be cut down and REMOVED from the plot and not left or dug in, as all good vegetable growers will agree!
We had a great week for the competition and BBQ. It would have been nice if more people attended, but those who did had a good afternoon. We will be having another BBQ on Saturday 10th September (weather permitting). Hope more of you will attend and get to know other plot holders, as we have a number of new people. Cost will be £2 per hot dog or burger and 50p for drinks.
It has been brought to the Committee’s attention that some plots are being worked on by people other than those named on the Tenancy Agreement. We must remind you that sub-letting is against the Association rules. We understand that families do help each other but if this is done on a regular basis, we must know as the Association’s insurance will not cover for any accident.
Also a reminder yet again that the speed limit on the site is 5 MPH!!
Thank you to everyone who donated goods to the Deal Hospital fete. It raised over £300.
Chairman Tony has recently put in an application to the Big Lottery Fund for a Grant to pay for new fencing on the bottom site backing on to Telegraph Road. Also some work needs to be done at the top car park, ie new noticeboard and a holding area for dung etc.
The Annual General Meeting this year will be on Monday 10th October. Please make a note in your diary. Fees are usually paid on this date. It would help if you could pay by cheque please. Fees are still £12.50 for a half plot and £25.00 for a full plot.
